BlackBox
The Iron Horse of AXES.
The BlackBox is the iron horse of AXES. This robust data collection device is renowned for its ability to capture virtually all protocols of gaming machine data. The BlackBox captures and stores the data while constantly verifying the availability of the cloud to effectively manage the transmission process by means of a proprietary method.
The BlackBox requires no maintenance or technical expertise to operate and is built on a break-and-replace principle. This non-intrusive, encrypted data collection device is how AXES has made its name by securely collecting a machine's data and ensuring it securely makes it to the AXES Cloud.
Advantages
Why operators choose the BlackBox
- Remove all manual entry from your operations
- Independent from any gaming manufacturer
- Increase profitability and decrease potential for fraud by automating data collection
- Increase efficiency through real-time, cloud-based reporting
- Lowest total cost of ownership in the industry
- No local IT expertise and no on-site servers required
Product Features
Built for the harshest environments
- Online/offline modes available for internet-challenged environments
- Onboard local storage for more than 10,000 transactions or events
- Military-grade, robust hardware to accommodate the harshest environments
- Alerts and alarms for prohibited activity
- Automatic connection to the AXES Information Management System (AIMS)
- Supports data collection from pulsed hard meters and via the SAS protocol
How It Works
Collect. Store. Upload.
Collect
Accurate data from the machine
The BlackBox connects to the gaming machine and captures meter reads, transaction events, and machine state via SAS, pulsed hard meters, or proprietary protocols β without interfering with game play.
Store
Encrypted data
Data is encrypted and stored locally on the BlackBox. With onboard capacity for more than 10,000 transactions, no data is lost even when the network is unavailable.
Upload
Secured data to the cloud
The BlackBox constantly verifies cloud availability and manages transmission via a proprietary method β uploading secured data to the AXES Information Management System (AIMS) the moment connectivity is confirmed.

Pair with the LID for maximum redundancy
The Local Integrity Device (LID) is the companion device to the BlackBox. The LID captures information from the BlackBox and stores up to 300 days of transactions for 40 machines in offline mode β providing a first level of data redundancy and ensuring that mission-critical transactions such as ticket-in and ticket-out are locally redundant so that cloud availability is never an issue.
- 1st level of data redundancy
- Stores up to 300 days of transactions for 40 machines in offline mode
- Only 1 per site required β redundant unit also available
- Allows disable/enable of a single machine or entire location with a single command
- Highly secure, encrypted, and redundant
BlackBox + EDGE compatibility
When EDGE β the fourth generation of AXES IoT and the quantum leap in IoT computing β launches on July 1, 2026, all existing BlackBox devices remain fully operational. No forced replacement. No disruption. BlackBox and EDGE operate in parallel within the same IMS environment. Your investment is protected.
