Where Gaming Meets the Future

The BlackFire Innovation Building opened in January 2020 as the flagship of the 122-acre Harry Reid Research & Technology Park — the most ambitious university-anchored tech campus in the American West. Built in collaboration with Caesars Entertainment Corporation, the four-storey, 111,000 sq ft living lab was designed for one purpose: to collapse the distance between academic research and industry.

Inside BlackFire, gaming companies, hospitality brands, and tech startups work side-by-side with UNLV faculty and students to prototype, test, and commercialize ideas that would take years to reach market anywhere else. It is the only facility in the world where a slot machine, a hotel room, and a research lab share the same floor.

For AXES, choosing BlackFire was a statement of intent. We are not a legacy vendor. We are a technology company — and we belong in the building where the next generation of gaming technology is being invented.

The Heartbeat of Montréal

Place Ville Marie is not just a building — it is the moment Montréal decided to become a world city. Designed by I. M. Pei and completed in 1962, the 47-storey cruciform tower was the tallest building in Canada and the entire British Commonwealth at the time of its opening. It filled a gaping railway trench that had sat empty in the heart of downtown for decades, and in doing so, it sparked the creation of Montréal's legendary underground city — the world's largest subterranean pedestrian network.

PVM quietly shifted the financial centre of Montréal from Old Town to Downtown, and it has never looked back. Today, Place Ville Marie is home to the Montréal FinTech Station — 25,000 square feet of dedicated space for fintech startups and their ecosystem, making it the most concentrated hub of financial technology innovation in Canada.

AXES chose 4 Place Ville Marie because the address carries meaning. This is where Montréal's boldest ideas have always been built — and where ours are built today.

Where Europe Meets North America

Québec City is unlike anywhere else on the continent. Founded in 1608 by French explorer Samuel de Champlain, it is one of the oldest European settlements in North America and the only walled city north of Mexico. Its fortifications, cobblestone streets, and 17th-century architecture earned it UNESCO World Heritage status in 1985 — a designation shared with fewer than 1,200 places on Earth.

For over 400 years, Québec City has been the place where French culture, British history, and Indigenous heritage converge. It is the birthplace of French North America — a city that has survived sieges, empires, and centuries of change while remaining unmistakably itself. The Château Frontenac, the Plains of Abraham, the Vieux-Port: every corner carries the weight of a continent's history.

AXES has its roots here. Our production facility is where every BlackBox IoT device is assembled, tested, and shipped to operators in 30+ countries. We are proud that the hardware powering the world's most advanced gaming intelligence platform is built in one of the world's most extraordinary cities.
