The Founding Story
We didn't set out to disrupt gaming. Gaming found us.
AXES was not founded to serve the gaming industry. We started as a smartcard provider for hotels, then pivoted to prepaid smartcards with Bell Canada. The pivot to gaming came when a major Canadian operator in Mexico needed something the market didn't have: a cashless solution that could also enforce responsible gaming and anti-money-laundering laws in real time.
To solve that problem, we had to invent the BlackBox — a hardware device capable of streaming live data from any slot machine, regardless of manufacturer, to a cloud platform we built from scratch. That cloud platform became the first cloud-native Casino Management System in the industry. No servers. No batch cycles. Real-time, everywhere.
Being a pioneer is never easy. The industry was built on end-of-day reports and closed, proprietary systems. We spent years proving that real-time intelligence wasn't just possible — it was the only defensible architecture for what was coming. Blockchain gave us immutability. AI gave us predictability. IoT gave us reach. The result is IMS: the Intelligent Management System.
Today AXES operates on every continent, partners with national governments on responsible gaming regulation, and powers cashless, loyalty, BI, and media applications for operators from corner-store route gaming to large-scale casino floors. The journey has not been easy. We look back with a smile, and forward with confidence.
